Google lost their antitrust case last summer. On Nov 20 the US government presented their list of demands:
Allow Android licensees much more flexibility: let them install their own apps and still use the Play Store
Sell off Chrome
Reduce its investment in AI
Not use other people’s online content for AI training without permission
Only the first makes antitrust sense. The second sort of does, but who would buy Chrome? How would a buyer monetize Chrome? Who would we trust to buy Chrome, given how much intimate information it is able to gather about us?
