The final will *not* cover chapter 19, and will *not* require any SQL writing.

Chapter 8: all

Chapter 9: we did some of this, but it will *not* be on the exam!

Chapter 10, B Trees: 10.1, 10.3-10.5 only, inserts only (no deletions!)

Chapter 11, on hashing, will not be on the exam.

Chapter 12: all (intro to query evaluation)

Chapter 13: omit

Chapter 14: 14.1-14.4
Hash joins and sort-merge joins will not appear 
(although index nested loop joins using hash indexes may appear)

Chapter 15: 15.1-15.5
REALITY: *almost* nothing from chapter 15 will be on the exam.
You will have to compute some I/O estimates for query evaluation plans,
though.

Chapter 16: all

Chapter 17: 17.1, 17.4, 17.5.1, skim 17.5.2

Chapter 18: 18.1-18.6
The exam will not cover crashes during recovery.

Chapter 19, on normalization, will not be on the exam.

Chapter 20: 20.1-20.3, 20.5
Only index-related tuning will be covered.
