Setting up a Domain - Assignment 2
April 12 Due: end of semester
Assignment 2 asks you to configure a domain controller, add a member
computer, and create a reasonable set of group-policy settings. You
should also create about ~20 users, using a script. There should be at
least two OUs, one for "beginner" users (younger students?) and one for
more advanced users.
Advanced users, at least, should have redirected home folders on the domain controller.
Your group policy settings should include reasonable configuration of the items listed below. In addition to making the actual settings, you should also write up a simple document spelling out why you chose these settings.
Here are some settings to configure; I will likely add to this list
- password policy
- software restriction policy, so as to disallow software in the student TEMP space
- initial login: folder settings, new/classic menu, desktop background
If you'd like to make a configuration setting but don't know how, just
describe it in the report. That might not get full credit, but it will
get "most" credit.
