basic pre-registration setup:

ip address	10.201.88.58
mask		255.255.240.0  /20
router		10.201.80.1
dns		10.201.80.10

post-registration:
ip	10.39.17.229
mask	/20
router	10.39.16.1
dns	147.126.1.{1,2}

All the pre-registration hosts (10.201.80.{1,10} can be pinged from a "normal" host. 
However, all attempts in this preregistration state to ping or arp the normal ip router, 
10.39.16.1, failed; ip, mask, and router were all set as indicated. 
This strongly suggests that I was firewalled off. 
(I didn't try nmap, though I should have.)

pre-registration, *everything* resolves with nslookup to 10.201.80.10.

Well, almost everything!
